Spring Session Letter

Greetings friends and family,

We are excited to be preparing for our next Spring session to get underway! The website has been updated with all of the latest dates and deadlines for those who are interested, and you can visit our site by clicking here. The next event coming up is training camp on February 22nd and 23rd.

For the time being we are continuing to take all the precautions we can to prevent Covid from joining our team. 😉 Last session we accomplished this by meeting outdoors in the fresh air where we could spread out, and we focused on learning solo and duo mime routines. We also had the opportunity to do a few service projects, which were a great way to bless others as well as share our faith off stage. We spent a couple days clearing brush from the property of a Christian sister, an elderly widow, who lives in a fire district. We were also able to spend half a day giving back to the gracious hosts of our practice location, Grace Brethren Church, by helping with some general maintenance around the church property. And our final project was making Christmas cards for nursing home residents who have been especially isolated this past year with the lockdowns. Shoutout to our first intern with Aim San Diego, Charleton Mills, who enriched our session in so many ways. We pray God’s blessings over him as he embarks on the mission of making disciples in his new role of co-director of a mime team in Rose Hill, KS.

We also enjoyed a successful first ever “Mime Walkathon” fundraiser in which the team used their mime skills to help raise fund over $1300 to cover our annual expenses like insurance, replacing mime make-up and sound equipment, as well as funding our scholarships to attend the annual national Discipleship Retreat (formerly known as Leadership Conference).

This Spring, we are looking forward to resuming our group mime routines. We have some transparent masks we will be trying out while the county is still under purple tier restrictions, but we are optimistic we may be able to start looking more “normal” by the end off of the session (as normal as a group of mimes can be). 😊 We are thankful to so many of you who continue to lift us up in prayer and support us in various ways. If you would like the Aim team to partner with you or your church in a gospel presentation, please get in touch with us!

To God be the glory for the things He has done. Because we know He lives, we live to make Him known.

Blessings!

Jessica Hughes on behalf of Aim San Diego
